We're Hiring

Full Stack Software Developer, Inventory

When Strathcom first started in 1997, we focused on solving a single problem: car dealers needed a better way to manage their inventory online and syndicate it to other websites. Traditional systems were cumbersome, slow, and frustrating, and we wanted to change that.

What began as our Easy-Loader vehicle management system evolved into a full set of tools to help dealerships better merchandise their inventory online. We now offer a complete set of solutions including online advertising, inventory syndication, and dealer websites.

What is the Inventory Team at Strathcom?

The Inventory team is still driven by that original problem. Car dealers today have more data sources than ever and we need to seamlessly combine them. UIs for managing inventory need to be easy yet powerful and have to work on any device. Every day, we process more than 500,000 vehicles and serve up 9 million photo requests. And we do all of this with a small and tight-knit team of developers.

If you join our team, you will have the opportunity to build out the Inventory Platform that drives our hundreds of dealer websites across Canada. We’re responsible for the whole stack from deeper services processing inventory feeds to building out the integrations to dealer websites.

Our team works with a high level of autonomy and is empowered to make changes to improve our products. If you want to make a change, go and do it.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate across functions (designers, product managers, other software developers) to drive Inventory initiatives,
  • Build fast, performant web applications that are simple to use for all site visitors,
  • Drive the technology choices for our web application frontend - we are currently assessing different Javascript frameworks but are willing to think outside of the box,
  • Maintain and extend our existing Inventory APIs (mostly Python) and website integrations (Wordpress),
  • Leverage cutting edge tools including AWS, Docker, and Terraform and have the support to learn and teach new tech,
  • Be open, give trust, and own your impact.

Our Wishlist for the Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years of industry experience building web applications
  • Passion for delivering products end-to-end, from ideation through planning and scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing
  • Commitment to constant learning
  • Experience with AWS and/or Docker is a plus

  • Competitive salary
  • 3 weeks vacation
  • Medical & dental insurance
  • Life insurance and disability benefits
  • Gym membership
  • We trust you with significant flexibility on working hours and working from home
  • Employee discounts on GoAuto products and services

Team Values

  • Own Your Impact - take pride in quality work, celebrate wins, learn from failures
  • Embrace Autonomy - developers brainstorm, design, and build all new features
  • Openness - be open with praise and feedback, embrace open communication, give trust
  • Constant Improvement - continuous growth of both our products and our developers
