Women & Automotive (March 29)

We live in a day and age where women are finally getting recognition for their work. Their voices are being heard and they are getting the respect that is long due. Given that the automotive industry is mainly a male dominant industry, it is great to see women stepping up and taking on key roles to not only further empower and educate other women, but also to push the sales goals. Women and Automotive is an event created to give these amazing women some extra push and confidence to use their skills to improve the auto industry. Women leaders from across the nation and various auto-related organizations will attend the event and speak to educate and empower the current and future women interested in the auto industry. Along with their own stories, they will discuss strategies to improve your presence in the industry. During and after the speaker series, you will also have an opportunity to network with the speakers and other attendees.

With some amazing women working at Strathcom Media, the choice of a speaker for this panel was difficult. With tremendous marketing knowledge and a passion for user experience, Carrie Oliva is someone who can aid in your pursuit of accomplishing the impossible. As the Director of Web Development and Optimization, she can powerlift user experience to new heights. She may not be Oprah, but make sure to catch the Carrie show at 11am, where she will be discussing How Networking Replaced Resumes – Making Connections That Matter, and perhaps handing out couple of business cards too.

We highly recommend attending both these events to help your dealership take its next step towards effective and efficient sales and marketing strategy. In an ever-changing industry, keeping up with the latest tech and sales information is ideal to ensure you remain successful among heavy competition. You don’t want to be left behind while your competitors are embracing the change and implementing solutions to get ahead in the game. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to contact Strathcom Media and we will be more than happy to provide more information on these events, or you can go ahead and register for the March 29 Women & Automotive conference here!

Women & Automotive Conference 2016

26216112171_84a074277f_bWednesday, April 6 was the first annual Women & Automotive conference at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, presented by Cox Automotive Canada. Speakers at this event included Erin Elofson from Facebook Canada, France Daviault from AIA Canada, and our very own Trish Rowsell. The goal of this conference was to bring together both male and female automotive professionals to discuss the challenges faced by women in the industry, and this goal was definitely achieved. There were over 200 attendees from all facets of the automotive industry including OEMs, fixed operations, finance, sales and more. There were also informative panels with an impressive line-up of speakers including representatives from Facebook, Canadian Black Book, and General Motors.

25677529574_6a1d86dc09_bOne inspiring keynote speech titled ‘Creating a Pipeline of Female Managers’ was delivered by Maria Soklis, President of Cox Automotive Canada. She discussed how reputable studies have determined that companies with the largest performance gains are those that have a pipeline of female managers as opposed to a token female executive stuck somewhere on the corporate ladder.

Trish spoke about how dealers can remain profitable in lean economic times and gave them straightforward, relevant strategies that they could take back to the dealership with them. Using examples from her industry experience, she gave dealers realistic and effective ways to decrease marketing costs and still reach, or even exceed their sales goals.

Even though the automotive industry has come a long way, there is still a lot of room for improvement. At Strathcom, we definitely know the value of having an equal workplace. Over half of our management team are women, and 75% of our sales team are women. We hope to see the number of women in the automotive industry continue to increase this year as it has been for the past 10 years, and we look forward to seeing even more attendees at the Women & Automotive Conference next year – April 5, 2017!  26216110231_0c84dd2f3f_b

Strathcom is Presenting at Auto Remarketing Canada and Women & Automotive!

Have you noticed how many companies have been talking about algorithms and personalization lately? Twitter recently announced that they are implementing an algorithm that – similar to Facebook – will personalize the content that users see. A few weeks later, Instagram made a similar announcement.

You may be wondering what personalization is and why so many  large companies are doing it. If you are going to be in the Toronto area next week, you’re in luck! Our president, Duncan Cochrane, will be presenting at the Auto Remarketing Conference in Toronto for the second year in a row.  He will be talking about Iteration and Personalization and what Strathcom is doing to provide personalization tools to dealers. With over 16 years of combined experience in sales, advertising and marketing, Duncan will show dealers how they can incorporate personalization into their website.

women-automotive_sponsorNot only is Strathcom attending the AR Conference for the second year in a row, but we will also be presenting at the first annual Women & Automotive conference in Toronto on April 6th. Given the current condition of the Canadian economy, our Director of Client Services, Trish Rowsell, will be discussing how dealerships can not only survive in lean economic times, but thrive in them. Trish has over 14 years of leadership experience in sales, promotions and marketing, so she has experience working in economic downturns and will teach dealers how they can make the most of their marketing dollars.

Strathcom Media is honored to have the opportunity to give these presentations, and we hope to see you there!
