Yesterday we got a sneak peak at the 2013 Calgary International Auto & Truck Show at the Vehicles & Violins Gala where we got to see some of the sweetest new rides and concept cars including the Chevy Tru concept, the Infiniti Q50 Hybrid and my personal favourite of the whole car show, the new 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Proceeds went to great charities like the ALS Society of Alberta, KidSport Calgary and Make a Wish Foundation.
It was a great event overall. Beyond the cars, the food was amazing, the auto auction was fun and the music was great. Good work Jim and everyone at the CMDA that made the 2013 Calgary auto show possible. Oh, but we can’t forget about the cars! Check them out:
2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse
How much is a 2013 Bugatti Veyron? If you have a cool $2 million sitting around with nothing to spend it on, then you can have a new Bugatti Veyron of your own! The 2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is virtually a missile on wheels with 1200 hp (about 20% more than the Grand Sport’s mere 1001 hp), and torque worthy of a small freight train (1106 lb-ft!).
Infiniti’s new 2014 Q50 sedan is certainly eye-catching, and it’s great to have a true hybrid option. It is one of the first models coming out with Infiniti’s new naming system and replacing the “G” series. The new Q50 looks a lot like the Infinit LE Concept that came out earlier this year.
Chevrolet Tru Concept
If it weren’t for the badge on the front, I would take bets on who could have guessed this was a Chevy. Believe it or not, the Chevrolet Tru concept is based on the Chevrolet Cruze! The Tru 140S would even use the same motor as the Cruze (albeit with a bit of performance tuning).
I saved the best for last! The 2013 Lincoln MKZ was by far my favourite of the show. It doesn’t look anything like your granddaddy’s Lincoln, that’s for sure. Emma from Lincoln was really knowledgeable about the car, and showed us the highlights. The design is actually (loosely) based on the Ford Fusion sedan.
I look forward to seeing more of the Calgary Motor Show. The industry is really heating up with some great new designs and cars, and there’s no telling what tomorrow will bring!
