What’s New and Exciting in Google Analytics for 2018?

We as customers have very high expectations for relevant and customized content from businesses. Google is always trying to improve and understand the user’s journeys and find new ways to deliver us that data.

According to Google, almost 90% of marketing executives say that understanding user journeys across channels and devices is critical to marketing success.

So let’s take a peek at the four new features in Google Analytics for 2018 to help us better understand our customers.

More of a Focus on Users in Reports

User metrics are a valuable way to understand your customer and their road to converting. With the new updated standard reporting you can see how many visitors came to your site from paid search as well as see the sessions. This allows important user data to be front and center when looking at data, instead of just focusing on sessions.

Measure Lifetime Metrics and Dimensions

Google has added a new tool to help marketers analyze visitors individually, lifetime metrics and dimensions for individual users, this data is based off on the lifetime of their cookie. This will allow you to look at historical data and see the total amount of time unique visitor has spent on your site or how many times they visited, what pages they are looking, etc. It essentially provides more accurate data than before, so that you can use that knowledge to deliver a better experience for your users.

Audiences Reporting

Google has also now added the option to build audience based on segments, which then can be linked to AdWords for more targeted marketing. You can now publish these new audiences and see a cross-channel view in Analytics whereas you were unable to connect that data in the past.

Conversion Probability

Conversions Probability is a new metric this year, it provides more analytic intelligence on the people who are most likely to convert based on the use of machine learning, and the transactions that user has made in the past. Pretty cool stuff Google.  Marketers can use this to their advantage by creating remarketing lists that target users that are more likely to convert and reach those users through their advertising campaigns in AdWords.

These new advancements in Google Analytics for 2018 are going to help you understand your user’s journey better and help you provide them a better experience that they have come to expect. We at Strathcom are looking forward to seeing what features Google comes up with next so we can continue to build better experiences and relationships with the customer.

Up Your Video Game with Facebook 360

Facebook 360The next big thing in vehicle walk-around videos won’t merely showcase your vehicle from multiple angles; it will flaunt the vehicle from every single one of the 360 degrees.

Introducing the brand-new, open-sourced Facebook 360-degree video camera!

Right now, even the most progressive dealerships in the country are using some sort of spinning platform with different areas where you can attach lighting for best results. This contraption raises the vehicle off the ground and spins the car so you can capture it from different angles.

The new Facebook 360-degree video technology will take consumers’ increasing demand for more photos and video to a whole new level with full 360-degree video. They are claiming this is the “best camera of its kind”.

The How & Why with Facebook 360-Degree Video:

The Facebook 360-degree video camera is built with 17 component cameras: 14 wide-angle cameras on a flying saucer, 1 fish-eye camera on the top, and 2 more on the bottom. Using web-based software and new techniques in filming, you’ll be able to “stitch” images together and bring your customer into the vehicle in a new way. Facebook has created a webpage with helpful tips and tricks, best practices, and success stories to help you get the most out of Facebook 360-degree video: https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/360-video.

Facebook is saying they’re not interested in jumping into the camera-manufacturing space, so they’ll be putting the open-source designs on GitHub sometime this summer. There are a few other companies in this space that have designed versions similar to the Facebook 360-degree video camera, but so far, there has been no comparison of video quality between them all.

The future of video shows a clear path into 360-degree viewing and virtual reality. If you haven’t started doing videos of your showroom and dealership, get filming and give the people what they want! What are you waiting for?

The Top 10 Youtube Ads of 2015

Google has spoken and revealed to us its YouTube Ads Leaderboard list, ranking the most-viewed commercials posted in 2015, and really, these ads are must-watches, so let’s check them out together!

Mobile-game developer Supercell reigns supreme, with two spots on the list: Boom Beach and Clash of Clans both place in the top four videos. The Clash of Clans video, taking the number one spot, ran on the Super Bowl and starred a vengeful Liam Neeson as AngryNeeson52.

But it’s not just videogames and mindlessness that made its way into the list; the Ad Council’s “Love Has No Labels” and Always’ “Like a Girl” campaign placed too, offering more socially-relevant, emotional messages. And do you like social experiments? Because a fascinating one about domestic violence made the list too.

Strathcom also really liked the number two showing: Hyundai’s “Message to Space”, where an astronaut’s daughter sends a message to her father in space. A dozen Hyundais drive across sand to form a message she wrote that’s actually visible from space. See it for yourself below with the rest of the top 10 videos!

The head of Global Advertiser Marketing at YouTube, Kate Stanford, offered some insight for marketers, emphasizing how mobile video is becoming bigger than desktop video, and that video placement can help tremendously with customer engagement and making a sale. Anyways, let’s check out the videos!
